Microarrays

Introduction

The Microarray Unit is a service of the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute aimed at genetic research and diagnosis. As a scientific-technical support unit, it offers technical services and advice using state-of-the-art equipment. The Microarrays Unit participates every year in the Genomics Quality Assessment (Gen QA).

Services

DNA and RNA quality control:

• Quantification using spectrophotometer (NanoDrop)

• Quantification using fluorimetry (Qubit)

• DNA integrity analysis by agarose gel electrophoresis.

• Analysis of RNA integrity by automated electrophoresis (Bioanalyzer).

Microarrays with GeneChip® technology:

• Differential gene expression for fresh samples or paraffin embedded tissue:

  • Human/Mouse Clariom S

  • Human/Mouse Clariom D

  • miRNA 4.0

• Gains and losses at the global level of the genome and detection of regions of homozygosity in fresh or paraffinized tissue samples:

  • Cytoscan 750K

  • Cytoscan HD

  • Cytoscan XON

  • OncoScan CNV

• Any other chip with GeneChip® technology offered by Thermo Fisher Scientific®

Genomic microarray analysis

BAC collection:

• Isolation of bacteria carrying a BAC of interest

• Isolation of genomic DNA from BACs

• Isolation and labeling of genomic DNA obtained from BACs

High throughput qPCR – Biomark HD:

• Targeted gene expression using DELTAGene® or TaqMan® chemistry

• Genotyping using SNPtye® or TaqMan® chemistry

• Digital PCR using TaqMan® probes

Optical genome mapping (Bionano Genomics®)

The DNA and RNA to carry out the studies must be extracted by the researcher, except in the case of optical mapping of the genome since it is high molecular weight DNA. All the services listed are associated with a fee. In the case of Biomark HD, the possibility of using it as self-service or requesting it as a paid service is offered, providing the researcher with the necessary reagents for the study.
