The Josep Carreras Institute hosts Colombian haematologists to discuss the latest advances on Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia
Dr. Josep Maria Ribera leads a new edition of the Preceptorship course, bringing together a dozen of Colombian hematologists to review and update their knowledge on Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. The course covers key topics, including the epidemiology of ALL, the application of Artificial Intelligence in its diagnosis and the discussion of real clinical cases.
From 26-28 February, the Josep Carreras Institute welcomes a group of Colombian haematologists for the latest edition of the Preceptorship course. The training is coordinated by Dr. Josep Maria Ribera, head of the Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia group at the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute, with contributions from other IJC and ICO researchers, including Dr. Rafael Marcos-Gragera, Dr. Isabel Granada, Dr. Jordi Ribera or Dr. Eulàlia Genescà.
The training features engaging lectures on protocols, diagnostic techniques, or recent advances in the treatments for ALL, such as immunotherapy. A key addition to the 2025 programme is a lecture on epidemiology by Dr. Marcos-Gragera, providing participants with an in-depth perspective on ALL incidence worldwide and in Spain. Another highlight is the discussion on the role of artificial intelligence in ALL diagnosis.
The course also offers a valuable opportunity to share and analyse real clinical cases. Additionally, a dedicated session explores future perspectives and the direction of ALL treatment.
Many medical centres in Colombia already follow study and treatment protocols developed by Dr Ribera’s research group. As he states, the Preceptorship course further strengthens collaboration with Colombian haematologists and enhances the visibility of the research conducted at the Josep Carreras Institute.
