CarrerasLeaders is an innovative global postdoctoral initiative created by the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC). This unparalleled programme is dedicated to advancing research and innovation in the field of blood cancers, spanning from fundamental disease biology to the development and implementation of groundbreaking solutions in the clinical setting. CarrerasLeaders is made possible through the support of the European Commission Horizon Europe Marie Sklodowska Curie Actions (MSCA) COFUND Programme, with the invaluable collaboration of the Josep Carreras Foundation and the scientific coordination led by Dr Marcus Buschbeck.

Now, the CarrerasLeaders programme announces the launch of its fourth Call. Following the successful selection of 15 fellows in the first three calls, this call aims to select 1 Postdoctoral researcher. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join one of the available groups from 39 Research groups and 9 Scientific platforms at the Josep Carreras Institute, as well as engage in international secondments across academic and non-academic institutions.

The application window is open from 14 April to 1 June. The programme will bring the selected postdoctoral fellow a unique opportunity to enhance their career, develop leadership skills, gain independence, and achieve professional consolidation. The key components of the programme are as follows:

  • Scientific Focus: blood cancers

  • Collaborative projects ideally with international and intersectoral secondments (between 3-11 months)

  • High-level scientific training-through-research and vocational training in transferable skills

Eligible candidates should have up to 7 years of postdoctoral experience and must not have resided or carried out their main activity in Spain for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the call deadline.

The selection process will be identical to previous calls, involving three stages of evaluation: an administrative eligibility check, external evaluation conducted by the Catalan Government Research Evaluation Agency (AGAUR), and a comprehensive interview assessment by external experts. For detailed information and application guidelines, please visit the programme’s official website and explore the supporting documents, Guides for the Applicants, and Evaluators. The call is also listed on the EURAXESS Website for added visibility.
