The American Society of Hematology (ASH) is the largest haematology scientists and clinicians society in the world, with more than 18 000 members from nearly 100 different countries. Each year, the association organizes its Annual Meeting and Exposition, an essential gathering for those working in the fight against blood diseases. The 65th edition of the ASH Annual Meeting convened on 9 to 12 December in San Diego, California, USA.

Researchers from the Josep Carreras Institute (IJC) did not miss the event, which was the perfect opportunity to stay up to date of the latest advancements, network with other haematology experts and present their work. The Director of IJC, Manel Esteller, delivered a scientific lecture on “Single-Cell Multiomics in Myelodysplastic Syndromes and Acute Myeloid Leukemia Upon Treatment with Hypomethylating Agents”, inside the block of Epigenetic and Chromatin Mechanisms Implicated in Therapy Resistance.

Many other researchers of the Josep Carreras Institute actively participated in the event and some presented posters in its exposition, including Oriol Calvete, Pamela Acha and Julia Mestre (Francesc Solé’s Myelodysplastic syndromes group), Nuria Profitos and Miranda Fernández (Gaël Roué’s Lymphoma Translational group), and Tomas Navarro (Group Leader of the Lymphoid Neoplasms group) on behalf of the Spanish cooperative group GELTAMO.
