Call for applications for the selection of a Director of the Josep Carreras Institute is now open
The Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute has published the call for applications for the selection of a director. The selected person will lead and keep the Institute at the forefront of research and innovation in leukaemia and other malignant haematological diseases. The deadline for submitting applications is Sunday December 1st.
Defining the Institute's global scientific, technological and innovation vision to keep the centre at the forefront of research into leukaemia and other malignant haematological diseases. This will be the main challenge for the person who occupies the new Director position that the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC) has just announced.
The person who leads this new stage of the IJC must foster a stimulating environment for interdisciplinary and translational research. In addition, the candidate will be expected to promote an institutional culture that integrates collaboration, communication, integrity, transparency, collegiality and scientific creativity, with the ultimate goal of finding a cure for leukaemia and other malignant haematological diseases.
Among their tasks, the new director will lead and support the Institute's 40 research groups and direct strategic actions to secure the necessary resources for the centre, promoting the creation of value through knowledge transfer and new collaborations, increasing the impact of the IJC at the national and international level. In addition, the selected person will work to transmit the values of the Josep Carreras Institute, support the effective training and professional development of the IJC staff and create an efficient executive and management structure.
Candidates will have to present a research track record of excellence and experience in research into leukaemia and/or other malignant haematological diseases. The deadline for submitting applications is Sunday, December 1st; all details of the offer can be found here.
Join a leading institute in leukaemia research
The Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute aims to promote, develop, transfer, manage and disseminate research, scientific and technological knowledge, teaching and training in leukaemia and other malignant haematological diseases. The Institute currently has more than 400 professionals and 40 research groups that study the epidemiological, preventive, clinical, translational and basic aspects of cancer.
In addition to being accredited as a Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities - State Research Agency, the IJC is also part of CERCA, research centres of excellence of the Generalitat de Catalunya, and is accredited by the Scientific Foundation of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (FCAECC). Furthermore, the IJC is one of the centres integrated into the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP), accredited as a Health Research Institute (IIS) by the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII).
