Chief of the Department of Hematology-Laboratory of the Catalan Institute of Oncology at Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital and group leader of the Lymphoid Neoplasms group at the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute. Dr. José Tomás Navarro has a degree in Medicine and Surgery and is a specialist in Hematology and Hemotherapy. He completed his Doctoral Thesis on the influence of CART in the treatment of lymphomas in patients infected with HIV. He has been devoted his entire career to the study of lymphomas, especially aggressive lymphomas associated with immunosuppression. He completed his training as a researcher at Harvard Medical School and the lymphoma program of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, with a two-year postdoctoral stay. He is reviewer for the journals Haematologica, Blood Advances, AIDS, Leukemia and Lymphoma and Medicina Clínica. He is chair of the Spanish Group of Hematological Cytology (GECH), an active member of GELTAMO (Spanish group of lymphomas) and of CETLAM (Catalan-Balearic group for the study and treatment of acute myeloid leukemia). He is member of the EHA HIV-Lymphoma Network and member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the International Castleman Disease Collaborative Network. In the European Society of Hematology (EHA), he is chair of the "Curriculum Exam-Committee" and co-chair of the “Education Committee”. He was Secretary of the Spanish Society of Hematology (SEHH) (2018-2022).
