“Protein ADP-Ribosylation Controls Innate Immune Responses in Cancer"
Dr Michael Hottiger
Department of Molecular Mechanisms of Disease, University of Zurich
The host of this seminar is Àlex Vaquero.
Prof. Hottiger is an internationally recognized leader in protein ADP-ribosylation, with seminal contributions to the understanding of ADP-ribosyltransferase enzymes (i.e., PARP enzymes), post-translational signaling, and their roles in genome stability, inflammation, and cancer. His work has been instrumental in establishing ADP-ribosylation as a dynamic regulatory system linking cellular stress responses to transcriptional control and innate immune signaling in cancer. He has published extensively in high-impact journals, co-organized major international conferences on ADP-ribose metabolism, and served on national and international scientific advisory boards. In parallel, he has been actively involved in translational research and biotechnology, including co-founding Dualsystems Biotech AG and the recently established Zurich Hub for Drug and Device Development (ZH3D), as well as advisory roles related to PARP inhibitor-targeted therapies.
