Jose Tomas Navarro

Biography


Chief of the Department of Hematology-Laboratory of the Catalan Institute of Oncology at Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital and group leader of the Lymphoid Neoplasms group at the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute. Dr. José Tomás Navarro has a degree in Medicine and Surgery and is a specialist in Hematology and Hemotherapy. He completed his Doctoral Thesis on the influence of CART in the treatment of lymphomas in patients infected with HIV. He has been devoted his entire career to the study of lymphomas, especially aggressive lymphomas associated with HIV infection. He completed his training as a researcher at Harvard Medical School with a two-year postdoctoral stay and spent 6 months in the lymphoma program of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. He is reviewer for the journals AIDS, Leukemia and Lymphoma and Medicina Clínica. He is the vice-president of the Spanish Group of Hematological Cytology (GECH), an active member of GELTAMO (Spanish group of lymphomas) and of CETLAM (Catalan-Balearic group for the study and treatment of acute myeloid leukemia). He is the Secretary of the Spanish Society of Hematology (SEHH) and Spanish representative in the European Society of Hematology (EHA) for training matters. He is chair of the "Curriculum Committee" of EHA and director of the European Hematology Exam.
