Lucía studied Biology at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, in which she received the Extraordinary Degree Award (2011). She later pursued her MSc in Biomedical Research at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (2012) and performed her doctoral studies at the crossroads between cancer biology, genomics and developmental biology, working on the developmental origin of paediatric neuroblastomas under the supervision of Dr. Elisa Martí and Dr. Gwenvael LeDréau (IBMB-CSIC). During this period, she had the opportunity to participate in the 125th Embryology Course at the Marine Biology Laboratory (2015), where she became absolutely passionate about genetics and developmental biology. In addition she loves science communication and she frequently participates in several educational programs promoting STEM among kids and young people. 

Lucía is currently a junior postdoctoral researcher in the lab working on 3D chromatin organization and haematopoietic lineage commitment.
