Potential use of curcumin as adjuvant for treatment of haematological neoplasms
Curcumin is a natural compound present in the rhizome of turmeric (Curcuma longa), which has been studied for its anticancer properties.
I am studying the effects of curcumin on Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia, an haematological disease caused by abnormal expansion of B cells which requires chronic medication. The use of curcumin combined with some drugs can potentiate the effects, thus allowing to improve the treatment or reduce drug doses, which would imply an improvement of patient quality of life.
