After the training period, he becomes member of the staff of the Stem Cell Transplantation (SCT) Unit were he was working from 1976 to 2010. His main research topics are the complications associated with SCT, mainly veno-occlusive disease, engraftment syndrome, thrombotic microangiopathy and graft versus host disease. Additionally, he was pioneering in autologous stem cell transplantation for amiloidosis, POEMS disease, and autoimmune diseases (multiple sclerosis and Crohn’s disease) and in the at-home transplantation program.
